Educate every girl child and she will be the nation’s pride’.  Education plays most important role in Women Empowerment. It also helps to put a stop to discrimination based on gender. Education is the first step to give women the power to choose the way of life she wants to lead. Education helps women to be more productive in their work. A knowledgeable woman has the skills, information, talent, and self-confidence that she requires to be a superior mother, employee, and resident.

Girls’ education is necessary for making homes a happy place. A man’s life blossom he is blessed with well-educated women as wife and mother. Educated girls can brighten the future of their country by the good upbringing of their children. Education gives a woman freedom of thought. It broadens her outlook and makes her aware of her duties and responsibilities

Samagra Shiksha Gujarat celebrates "Dakar Ni Salaam Dish Ne Nam’’ in all schools, on 26th January- Republic day since 2015-16. Flag hoisting is done by the highly educated girls of the village and honoured by awards & prizes. Samagra Shiksha also organizes a debate, quiz, and extra co-curriculum activities related to girls. On this special occasion, schools also invite mothers of new-born baby girls and honoured them.

Gender Audit:

The checklist to assess gender-responsive teaching and learning environment in schools (gender audit) was prepared by SS. The checklist consists of different indicators; the checklist is shared with all the District Girls Education Coordinators (DGCs), Block & Cluster Resource Coordinators.

The indicators in the checklist are divided into three main aspects;

(A) School and classroom physical environment

(B) School and classroom learning environment

(C) Teacher-child interaction and pedagogy

The gender audit is conducted in schools across the state. Major findings are separated and for follow up work & training needs are identified for creating gender bias-free classrooms/school environment considering the findings. The further district will do gender audits independently to focus gender sensitization in all schools of the particular district.

Meena ni Duniya:

Meena niDuniya Program is implemented in all Primary, Upper primary and KGBV schools. This program is started from September-2017. This program is broadcasted from BISAG (Vandegujarat channel no.6, 7, 8) 2(two) days (Tuesday and Friday) in every week after School morning assembly. The content of the episodes includes RTE, An inclusive education, Life skill education, Gender sensitization, Child rights, WASH and Child-friendly school. The state has developed a broadcasting Calendar, Brochure, Teacher guideline, Episode guideline, Teacher dairy, and monitoring form.

For monitoring, Online Google form is used to know the awareness and success of the program. This program helps in increasing the attendance of the students. To know the impact and progress of the program monitoring are done regularly through CRC monitoring App.

Convergence with Other Department:

For achieving the set goal to improve girl education in the state, SS has adopted Convergence as a strategy for holding hands. State KGBVs are functional with the support of the Department of education. Below are some major convergence done during 2018-19:
